It sheds water, resists rot, and stays put through the temperature swings we get inland — which is why it's the only wood on the menu for this piece. Every planter is quoted to your exact dimensions, then lined and drained so the wood and the soil each do their own job.

Why cedar — and why it's the only option

Planters lose wood to two things: standing moisture and sun. Menifee and the rest of inland Riverside County hand out plenty of both — long dry stretches, hard afternoon heat, cool nights. Cedar takes that better than pine, oak, or walnut. Its natural oils resist rot and insects, it moves less as the air dries out and damps down again, and it doesn't need a coat of anything to survive outside.

That's why the other woods we offer — pine and fir, oak, walnut — don't show up here. For a box that holds damp soil in full sun, cedar is the honest answer, so it's the only one we build planters from.

A planter that traps water rots from the inside, whatever the species. So every box we build is lined and drained: a liner keeps soil and constant moisture off the structural cedar, and drainage lets excess water leave instead of pooling at the base. The wood stays a container, not a sponge.

It's solid timber throughout — no ply or veneer to delaminate when it gets wet and dries out again. Finish is your call: raw cedar left to silver, or sealed, stained, or premium if you want to lock in the tone. For anything living indoors, the drainage is set up to keep water off your floor.

These aren't outdoor-only.
