There's no catalog dining table here, because there's no catalog. Every table is drawn to your room, your seat count, and the wood you want to eat off for the next few decades, then built by hand in the shop in Menifee. What follows is how to spec one: sizing it to the room, choosing grain and finish, the joinery underneath, and how it gets to your part of Riverside County.

Sized to your room, not a shelf

A dining table is a clearance problem before it's a furniture problem. Before anything gets cut, we work backwards from the room: the footprint, the walk-around, and how many chairs need to pull out without hitting a wall or a cabinet. That number decides the top, not a size pulled off a shelf, because there isn't one.

A useful starting rule: allow about 24 inches of edge per seat, and leave roughly 36 inches between the table and the nearest wall so chairs can actually move. From there we adjust for a bench, an everyday length that skips the leaf, or a top that has to thread a tight Menifee dining nook.

  • Seats 4: around 48" long, good for a kitchen or nook
  • Seats 6: around 72", the common family length
  • Seats 8: around 96", needs a genuinely open room
  • A round top seats more in a tight footprint; a bench tucks away when clearance is short
  • Send the room dimensions and I'll tell you the largest top that still lets people walk around it

Wood, grain, and a finish that survives dinner

Tables come in pine or fir, cedar, oak, or walnut. For a surface that eats three meals a day, hardwood earns its keep. Oak is hard and open-grained and takes a beating; walnut is a touch softer underfoot but reads darker and richer and hides a lot; pine and fir keep the price down and wear into a lived-in look instead of fighting it.

Finish is its own decision, and its own line on the quote. A dining top wants at least a sealed finish, something that shrugs off a wet glass and a wiped-up spill rather than drinking it. Tell me who eats at it, kids, keys, laptops, and I'll point you at the finish that matches the abuse.

  • Woods: pine/fir, cedar, oak, walnut
  • Finishes: raw, sealed, stained, premium
  • Every wood and finish is a priced option in the estimate, so you can see the trade before you commit

Joinery you won't see but will feel

Every table is built the way a table should be: breadboard ends across the grain to hold the top flat, and mortise-and-tenon joints locking the base together. No pocket screws pretending to be joinery, no MDF hiding under a veneer.

It matters most on the piece you use hardest. Wood moves with the seasons, a top expands and contracts, and a Riverside County July is not a Riverside County January. Breadboard ends and joints cut for that movement are what keep a daily table from cupping, splitting, or working itself loose a few years in.

Not only dining: coffee, side, and desk tables

Same bench, smaller footprint. Coffee tables, side tables, and desks are built to the same joinery and the same wood-and-finish menu, starting from $420. Dining tables start from about $910. The exact figure lands on your dimensions, wood, and finish, which is precisely what the estimator adds up.

If you want the room to hang together, a coffee or side table can be built in the same wood and finish as the dining piece, so the set reads as one thing instead of three near-misses.

  • Coffee and side tables: from $420
  • Dining tables: from about $910
  • Desks built to the same spec
  • Match a smaller table to a dining build in the same grain and finish

Deposit, lead time, and delivery around Riverside County

A 50% deposit opens a build slot; the balance is due when the table is finished, by card or bank on a secure invoice. Most pieces run 3 to 6 weeks from that deposit, and a firm date comes with your quote instead of as a guess up front.

Delivery is local, around Menifee and the rest of Riverside County. A dining table is usually a set-it-down job, but if yours needs assembly or leveling on site, installation is quoted separately as its own line so you can see exactly what you're paying for. Veteran-owned, built by hand in the shop here in Menifee.

FAQ

Common questions

How big should my dining table be for my room?
Work backwards from clearance. Allow about 24 inches of table edge per seat, and keep roughly 36 inches between the table and the nearest wall or cabinet so chairs can pull out. That puts a 4-seater near 48 inches, a 6-seater near 72, and an 8-seater near 96. Send me your room dimensions and I'll tell you the largest top that still lets people walk around it.
Oak or walnut for a table we use every day?
Both hold up; they just wear differently. Oak is harder and open-grained, so it takes daily knocks well and shows a bit of texture. Walnut is a touch softer but darker and richer, and it hides marks a lighter wood would show. For a kids-and-keys table, oak is the safe call; if you want the piece to read as the centerpiece, walnut. Pine or fir are there too if you'd rather spend the budget elsewhere.
Which finish survives spills and daily use?
For a dining top, go at least sealed. Raw looks and feels great but drinks a spilled drink; sealed, stained, and premium all put a protective layer between the wood and dinner. Tell me whether it's a coasters-and-placemats table or a full-contact family one, and I'll match the finish to how hard it'll get used.
How much does a custom dining table cost?
Dining tables start from about $910, and coffee, side, and desk tables from $420. The final number depends on size, wood, and finish, since every piece is quoted to your exact dimensions rather than a fixed catalog price. The estimator at /quote adds those choices up in seconds, so you're not guessing.
How long from deposit to dinner?
Most tables run 3 to 6 weeks from your deposit, depending on size and finish. You get a firm date with the quote, not a vague 'sometime.' The 50% deposit reserves the build slot; the balance is due on completion, by card or bank on a secure invoice.
Do you deliver to my part of Riverside County?
Delivery is local: Menifee and around Riverside County. Give me your address with your quote and I'll confirm the delivery line. If the table needs assembly or leveling once it's in the room, installation is quoted separately so it's clear on the invoice.
